A set of seven lampwork glass disc beads made from two shades of amber glass fumed with fine silver, kiln annealed for lasting strength.

The amber glass has taken on shades of pearly purple iridescence during the fuming process, and these spiral discs have a gorgeous shine. For display purposes I’ve strung the discs together, to give an idea of what they would look like making up a composite bead.

I’m making a lot of these discs at the moment and am enjoying putting them together into composite disc beads as part of a necklace. Stringing them adjacent to each other in a tapering fashion makes for an unusual sparkly, not to mention tinkly, effect.

Have a look at serving suggestions to see an example of what I’ve been doing with them.

The beads were made on 1.6mm mandrels.
The diameter of the centre disc is 15.5mm.
The diameter of the smallest disc is 12mm.
All seven discs strung next to each other, as photographed, make a composite bead measuring 16.5mm from end to end.
Measurements are approximate.
